You can search our catalogue for books, DVDs, CDs and talking books by author, title, subject, library location and year published. Reserve them online and receive an email once they are ready to be collected from your local library.

Digital Archive

The Fraserburgh Herald, from 1884 to 1920, has been digitised and is available online. You can search the full available content by date and/or keyword.

Digital Library

e-Books, e-audiobooks, music and video are all available from our Digital Library. There are also collections in the Digital Library for e-books and e-audiobooks for children and young adults. All you need is your library card number and password.

The items come in various formats and can be downloaded to your device, but you can also read and listen to them through your browser without downloading. There are full instructions under the Help section on the Digital Library page.

You can borrow up to 10 items for up to a month and in addition you can also borrow a further 10 items from Aberdeen City Libraries.


Access our collection of online magazines on many subjects:- sport, crafts, politics, computing, arts and photography, lifestyle, health and fitness, pets and gardening. All you need is your library card number and password. There is no time limit or expiry date on e-Magazines, once you have downloaded them then they are on your device until you decide to delete them. Get started by creating an account

Freegal Music 

Freegal is a digital music service which includes over 9 million songs. Download 5 music tracks (music videos use 2 downloads) every week to keep forever. In addition stream 3 hours of music every day.

Music includes classical, pop, jazz, folk, rock and music from the latest UK charts.

Any resident over the age of 12 can get access to the Library’s Freegal service. Just login using your library card number and password.

George MacDonald Manuscripts

George MacDonald was a Huntly born novelist and poet. A number of his original manuscripts have been digitised and can be viewed.

If you are unable to return your items before the date they are due back or you wish to keep them out a little longer then you can log into your account and renew your loans online.


In our online catalogue you can see every item available in Aberdeenshire Libraries, not just what your local library has in stock. Whether you are browsing or looking for something in particular, once you have found it you can place a reservation on it and collect it from your local library.

Suggest Item Purchase

Want a book, DVD, CD etc but Aberdeenshire Libraries don’t stock it? You can suggest a purchase by completing the online form.
