Welcome

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Aberdeenshire Libraries. We hope that you will be inspired, find creativity, have fun with learning, feel free to relax and socialise in any of our 36 libraries and 3 mobiles.

The welcome pack will guide you through the many services that libraries can offer you today. You will be able to borrow from a large selection of new stock, chat with the staff and why not get involved with one of our Reading Groups. Meet your friends for coffee in the library and discuss the latest novel or film or even catch up on your TV. Need to research your family tree? Check out Ancestry and talk to staff who will be happy to help.

Have your own device? Make use of the free wi-fi service that is available in 16 of our libraries. Don’t own a device? Why not try out an iPad or an e-Reader in the library? Never tried a PlayStation or a Wii? Why not play against some of your family and learn some new skills!

All of our libraries are here to support you to become a confident and successful learner, whatever age you are and however you like to learn. Why not try a tutor led class so you can chat with family living elsewhere or do your shopping online? Libraries provide a welcoming and informal learning place with staff that are happy to help you, whatever the time of day.

Many of us lead very busy lives and the digital selection provided by the Library Service can still fulfil the desire to escape into a good book or magazine without the need to leave the comfort of your own home. The welcome pack will show you how to get the most from all our digital services.   To help you access our digital services please see our range of library how to films to get you started.

We welcome your feedback and thoughts to help us improve and shape our service so please feel free to get in touch at any time, using the contact information available from your welcome pack.

All that is left for me to say is welcome and enjoy!
